No, I think it shows that even though the phone looks big that it's not
    *huge* or an unmanageable size.

These friends have chosen it for the size/feature tradeoff, and seem
quite happy with it. These aren't people who leave it in their
    briefcase/handbag/car all day either!

Obviously for them it isn't too big a phone. It fits their needs.

I don't own one, nor am I buying one. The phone doesn't suit my needs,
nor (obviously) does it suit yours!

It's plain english - fits into my pocket comfortably. It's rounded shape
doesn't jab into my leg when I'm sitting and it's far from bulky.

It IS very subjective and everyone will have their own opinion. Don't bust
my balls for having my say. If you don't find it comfortable, just say so
    and move on.

And the fact that the Japanese have smaller hands! I'm not being
facetious; some of the phones I saw when I was over there would never
work in the European or US markets because we wouldn't be able to press
the buttons with anything bigger than a pinkie fingernail. I borrowed a
Japanese friend's cheap 'n' cheerful "quite bulky" cell phone one
afternoon and it was still half the size of anything I'd seen over here.

What's really crazy is that a few years ago even the Japanese became
disillusioned with the impracticalities of using ever more tiny phones,
and several companies launched large plug-in handsets that attached to
the cellphone but were of a more practical size for holding. Some were
novelty items shaped like fruit or Manga characters, but one or two
looked like good old-fashioned 'dog bone' analogue phone handsets. Talk
about full circle. And still the cellphones themselves got smaller.
    Insanity.

As for the Z600, once the basic considerations are met I place strength
above style. Sure, the thing's a bit fat when it's closed and no doubt a
good design engineer could get the depth down to half or even less of
what it is now. But while I suspect that the Z600 could survive quite a
large weight being accidentally applied to it while in a pocket (use any
scenario you can imagine!), I'm not sure the same would be true for a
    slimmer, flimsier design.

But valid in the respect that many had initial reservations about the
size & found it not to be a problem.
I've just been informed by the Terminology Police that the Z600/300 are
clamshell phones I wish SE *did* make a flip phone! Long live the

I'm really happy with my Z600, it's the first clam shell phone I've owned. I
found the size/weight/feel perfect for me, compared to the other clamshell
    units I looked at..

Get used to it. All the new clam-shell phones with the same capability will
    be larger than the Z600.

Sony Ericsson themselves have explained that the target demographic for the
Z600 is professional males, aged 25-45. This demographic requires a phone
with a good sized keyboard which can expect extremely frequent use. The
dinky little Samsungs and LGs are very pretty but lack any functional appeal
if your hands are any larger than those of Peter Pan!

I was a big fan of the R520 for the very same reason - good keyboard where
you were reasonably sure to hit the right button on every occasion and as a
long time Ericsson user I think that the Z600 has hit the spot.
