I've noticed this a while ago, all the messages stored on the phone are
deleted when one changes the SIM card. Since this gets pretty annoying, I'm
wondering if there is a way to disable it, I still have not found it out.
Thanx,
Tarik

i beleive there is an option to copy sms's to sim, im sure at the same
time (not 100% through) that there is an option on the text menu to
save them to sim when you get them but it can only store up to 20 on
sim.

Re: T610 Security feature - SMS deletion
Thanx for the reply, it does not help too much however. The point is that I
want to transfer the SMS's I receive on one SIM card to the other through
the phone,
your option suggests saving them on the first SIM card, but I cannot have 2
SIMs in one phone and transfer stuff from one to another, can I? :-)
Is there any PC software that I could use to back-up my messages, change the
SIM card and get them back on?

the sms's are stored on the phone, stick the new sim in and copy to
that then (or the old one in and copy to that) it depends which sim
you want to copy them to. but the sms's will be stored on the phone.
other than that if thats wrong then i dont understand your question,
sorry.

Re: T610 Security feature - SMS deletion
My opening post includes this sentence:
"I've noticed this a while ago, all the messages stored on the phone are
deleted when one changes the SIM card." meaning that when I switch the SIMs
all the messages on the phone are flushed, deleted, they are no more.
That's why I can't stick another SIM into the phone and copy them to it,
it's pretty obvious.
Thanx for the attempted help.

cant you copy the sms's onto a sim stick them into another phone and
copy them across or use a program like float mobile agent?

Re: T610 Security feature - SMS deletion
Sorry for the flaming thingy, I'm not really patient in having to explain
things I already explained. No hard feelings :-), thanx for the help.
You might have another firmware version or something, I just tried it again
and it wiped all the messages yet once more.
The thing with copying the messages to a SIM and cross-copying does work,
but it's a time-killer when you have 50 or more messages on the phone
Fma seems to feature SMS backup, I'm getting a Bluetooth dongle tomorrow so
I guess that should work too.
Thanx for your help once more

Tarik has already said twice that his/her messages in memory are lost when
the SIM card is changed. The same thing happens with my phone and many
others, I'm sure.

I don't think you understand what the OP wants to do.

I've had no luck with this. Has anyone had success?

Re: T610 Security feature - SMS deletion
Ths same thing has happened to my T39 when changing sim cards, if I dont
save them onto the sim......they are clearly gone!!....not
there!!...........nada!!..........zip!!....when I put the original sim back
in.
I'm now using a Z600, havent tried it on that yet though.
I know this does not answer your question Tarik, but @ least you will
know.......you are not alone, follow the links below to see public forums
related to your problem.

Re: T610 Security feature - SMS deletion
:-) thanx for the consolation
I just got a Bluetooth dongle and it works fantastically! With a little help
from my friend, Float's Mobile Agent I can see all the messages on the
phone, apart from everything else. You can export them as an HTML file, as
well as XML or CSV.
I'm going to try to update my phone's firmware, maybe they've fixed the
thingy or added an option to turn the auto-deletion off...
Good luck,
Tarik

Re: T610 Security feature - SMS deletion
Not that it has much to do with it, since I have a Nokia 3510 on which the
messages on the phone are retained when changing the SIMS, I measured the
time.
My new record: 7.5sec changing the SIMS :-D and the messages got wiped once
more, I'm beginning to see a pattern here ;-)
This rules out the no-electricity-to-memory objection. It's definitely done
on purpose, but I've found a workaround this anyways, the bluetooth thingy
so it's OK
