Hello.
Is there any way of just setting up the e-mail for send only or even easier,
an easy way of e-mailing the pictures I've taken to an external account. I
haven't got the connecting cable, Bluetooth or infra-red so I'm bit stuck
without it.

You can send your photos as attachments of an e-mail.
You can set up your account in such a way that you are only downloading the
headers of e-mails not the entire mail itself that saves a lot of space /
traffic.

The easiest way is through MMS service.

I think sending them via bluetooth to your PC is best.
But when not at home e-mailing them as an attachment is good.
Best of all it doesn't require MMS and is free!

As far as I can tell, if you send the photo as email from the 'More'
menu of My Pictures, I think it just does the send and doesn't try to
retrieve the contents of your Inbox.

I just tried that and it does indeed only send the mail with attachment.

Bluetooth is definately the best way from the house. However, emailing, at
least here, isn't free. I have a per KB charge for sending and receiving via
my GPRS account, which is the only way to send email from cingular. SMTP
will not work through the free CSD account, so depending on volume and size
of items sent, it could wind up costing quite a bit for some people to email
instead of MMS.
