Hi All
I bought myself a T610 (here in Austraila) a few weeks back. I really have
no idea about the phone at the time I bought it, but its got a load of
BUTTONS to connect to the Vodafone Live network. This is bugging the hell
out of me. Just one wrong move and your connecting to the Live network. (Wap
think its called)
I thought it was simple. Just go to the menu setting and switch it off. But
No!!
From reading forums online i'm coming to the understanding that Vodafone set
the Firmware for this model phone. I didn't know that the firmware wound of
been different if say i bought it from some other shop. (till yesterday i
had no idea what Firmware is)
I personally find that Vodafone was missleading, failing to tell me that the
phones firmware was personalised for their network. Had i known about this,
I more then likely wouldn't of bought it.
But more importantlly. How do i get rid of the vodafone crap?
Sorry for wasting peoples time just to get to my question.
thanks

Yup, same problem with them here in the UK.

Nope, don't you just love customised firmware?

It wouldn't have been any differennt. All Voda Live! handsets are
bastardised to hell and back.

But it's still a good phone.

Get the firmware re-flashed (not at an official service centre) and have
GDFS reset. This will get rid of all of the customisation.

Just my two pennyworth, I used thephonelocker and they are bloody brilliant
(no affiliation). Had my T610 back from them really fast and its beautiful.
I scraped off all the Vodafone printed crap and now have a pristine
handset - just how SE intended!

Thanks for the kind words Ted, but the OP might find it a little expensive
in postage from Australia. As an alternative, he could consider using one
of the logging services online which will remove most of the customisation,
but not all of it.

Thanks for your helpful reply guys.
Yeah! It kind of sucks living at the ass end of the world.
Might try some weekend market places to see what they can offer me.
Even rang Ericsson to let them know that I wasn't happy with the LIVE setup
of the phone. Their reply was "If you touch the firmware ALL warranty will
be lost. (like i care)
