Can anyone who has purchased an r520m from expansys tell me whether
they have the latest firmware? I am thinking of purchasing one as a
2nd phone and just need a few things clearing up first.
TIA,
Chris
P.S. Whats the general opinion of this phone? good points, bad points.
Cheers guys.

Re: R520M @ expansys - Latest firmware?
The one I bought from them (Expansys) is R2. So, no, it's NOT the
latest firmware. Upgrade to latest is recommended but shouldn't cost
very much. I believe, warranty covers firmware upgrade, might worth a
check on this one.
Phone is good, good reception, good feature. To me, it got everything
a phone NEED to have. GPRS, IrDA, Bluetooth, PDA features, Outlook
sync., etc... Basically almost everything apart from colour screen and
polyphonic ringtone.
Hope that helps.

No, they don't, they've got R2K while latest is R4A008.

Best gsm phone ever made. Everything except color screen and polyphonic
tones... and the best radio capabilities with an IAT-10 optionnal
antenna (except R250s).

When did you purchase yours from expansys? Have you had yours
upgraded, if so was it free under warranty?
Thanks,
Chris

Re: R520M @ expansys - Latest firmware?
just been reading some reviews, all good so far! but have a few
questions, does it have these features - ?
ability to trigger the speaker phone function, when you pull the phone
away from your face, via sensor detection
and
function which will let you make the alarm "snooze" by waving your
hand over the phone (proximity switch).
or are these not in the UK/EU version?
Thanks all,
Chris

No, but you can re-activate it with two clics (option - 1)

hi, thanks for all your help, much appreciated. I have just managed to
download a british english r520m manual and just checked what features
are what. the alarm clock 'motion snooze', as its called in the manual
looks a very nifty feature!

You've got old E/// ringtones (3xx, 6xx series), and 5 (?) custom
ringtones (you can find some dozens over the net), but no polyphonic
ones ;-)

Re: R520M @ expansys - Latest firmware?
I believe the upgrade is covered under warranty in the country of
purchase. But unfortunately, I am not in UK (where expansys is based),
I didn't got that upgrade for free.
I purchased the phone about 6 weeks ago. (Believe to be the same log
that Expansys still have 500+ of)
Thanks...

Thanks for the info. I've just received an email back from expansys
and they say the phone will have 1 years manufacturers warranty so
hopefully if its an older firmware version I can get it upgraded for
free at a service centre near me.
