The P900 seems a useful tool, but I cannot find enough detail about its
    limits.
I need to replace my phone, and also thinking of changing my Palm 515. Will
the P900 provide adequate PDA functionality to replace the Palm?
I have around 1,200 contacts, several with quite long notes.
There are about 4,500 items in the calendar.
    About 500 notes and 500 tasks (to-do).
I also like to have access to about 1,000 emails (received and sent).
In addition there are Word and Excel editors and Powerpoint and Acrobat
viewers. The Palm handles this easily and synchronises quickly with Outlook.
Basically it is a copy of the Outlook data.

    Thanks
    Michael

In one short sentence: The P900 is a great phone, but it will not
    replace your Palm (look below).

PDA functionality: Adequate calendar, tasks and notes.

Some people have reported problems with large address books. There are
rumours that the Px00 has a limit of about 700 contacts. I cannot
    confirm this.
    > There are about 4,500 items in the calendar.

I don't know about any limitations here.

You would find that manipulating and reading these is easier on the
Palm. You would have to manually sort them into categories on the
phone; the phone does not inherit categories from Outlook.
    > I also like to have access to about 1,000 emails (received and sent).

You would lose access to these when mobile, with the Px00. The e-mail
program on the Px00 is for viewing and replying to the occasional mail only.

There is 3rd-party Word/Excel SW for the Px00 (QuickOffice). Reading
Word documents is OK. For editing, I find the screen is too small. You
can view, edit and calculate Excel, but again, the screen is too small.
Furthermore, if you edit Word documents on the phone, it is saved in
an HTML-format, and the integration with Win-Word is not perfect. From
my experience, you would have to re-format the document in MS-Word
afterwards. The HTML format also means you cannot beam a document from
Px00 to Palm (to DocumentsToGo, at least).
There is a PDF-viewer for the Px00 on the accompanying CD, and also
3rd-party SW for PDF. I have not tested these, but I assume you would
experience problems with the small screen.
To sum up: I find I can work with MS-Office documents on the Palm, but
    not on the Px00.

Syncing of Outlook data works fine, but see the limitations above.

Re: Will the P900 replace my Palm?

Many thanks for the very comprehensive reply. It is what I feared, so I'll
wait for the future - or change the way I work with Outlook.

The other solution may be the Orange SPV200, but this seems to have low
battery life, and less PDA capabilities.

Having had Palms since early days battery life has never been a problem, but
I have held off the Tungsten T3 as I suspected poor battery life. Your
    comments confirm this.
