I'm having problems getting used to my T610. I'm a Nokia user for a
long time, as well as Samsung. I got the T610 from a friend of mine.
There's some things I can't figure out from this phone yet.

    1) Shortcuts - Using the Samsung phone I had, I could program shortcut
keys easily. I can just press the left cursor and I'm in calculator
mode. I can press the right cursor and I'm in "sending mail" mode.
Nokia also has a somewhat efficient system. I press the left button
and then "6" to activate the calculator. 2 buttons pressed and I'm in
calendar. Can the T610 do this? The only way to do this is to press
the joystick button, then press up/left, press shortcut, then select
    finally the select option.

    2) Text messaging is also hard to get used to. Is there a way to turn
off that box whenever I'm pressing a letter? I've been text messaging
for years now and I pretty much know what I'm typing without having to
    rely on that alphabet display.

    3) There's also too much button to press to send mail. After you type
your message, you click on "continue" then "number" then "lookup" then
"phonebook" then "find" then the name of your recipient then another
confirmation. Can't they just sum all these up in "send" then show
your phone list and then send it right away?

The manual I got is in Japanese

Unfortunately the sony/ericsson phones are just sort of like that. The t300
would highlight the shortcut menu when you push left, so with two clicks you
are looking at your own shortcut list.

The only good thing on the t610 is pressing left automatically opens
whatever you have set as the first item on the shortcut list.

Don't know about the 610 but the T68i had a Shortcuts menu in which you
could create shortcuts to any function on the phone. I don't recall that you
could assign a shortcut to a key though.

Never found a way to turn this off, but then it was never an issue. You
don't actually have to look at it while typing.

On the T68i when you get ready to enter an email address you simply press
the joystick < (left) and it will give you your phone book list from which
you can choose a name. On my T226 if I press and hold the 4-way pad to the
left I am taken directly into the Text messaging application. There must be
a way to set these keys but I sure don't see anyway to do it from the menu
choices. Maybe ATT has those selections blocked out.

Go here for a downloadable user guide for the T610

http://www.sonyericsson.com/us/spg.jsp?page=start ( Sorry the way Sony does
their web site I cannot get you right to the T610 support page with manuals)
