Ringtone...

Hi all...
Just found this group...lovely

When my T610 rings, it starts very low and then rising to an acceptable
level where I acctually can hear it if its on a table some meters
away...
The problem is, when I hear it, the caller is gone sometimes...
In the setup menu I've set it to NOT do this, but with no effect...
(there is no difference, whether its on or off..)

Somebody?

There IS a difference. When it's OFF, there's only one low signal followed
by the normal volume. When it's ON, there's one low signal followed by an
increasing signal. The first low volume signal is to prevent ear damage for
in case you had your phone against your ear when it starts ringing. Many
discussions about this, try google. Anyway, you cannot change this first low
volume ring. It's annoying, I know...

Isnt it also something to do with Poly ringtones? The increasing ringtone
function doesnt really have anything to do with this small flaw!

Is that why my P900 makes a series of clicking sounds before the ring tone
actually begins? I've always wondered if it was possible to turn that off.

Probably... In this way they can't be sewed for making someone deaf :-)

Mine doesn't make a series of clicking sounds before the ringtone begins.
Are you using a midi?

I generally use MP3s for ringtones. It goes "click click (pause) click"
before the ringtone starts, as the caller info is appearing on the screen.
No big deal, I just wondered why.

Mine's never done that, and I haven't heard of anyone else's doing it
either. I'd guess it's not a serious problem but I have no idea what's
causing it.
