both std on my £35 eclipse & prior 2 phones dating back circa 1999 - are you

not it isn't - neither of the 2 softkeys do anything different 'in call'

if you're saying you use autolock, but you prefer it didn't lock when it's
not left on desktop then (bizarre choice, but) you have the right phone for
you - of course then you must have the wrong computer, since it will
autolock whatever is left on screen

rubbish - dont tell me you dont want the ramping to switch off when you

    i hadn't noticed either until i got k700 - then i noticed a massive
difference - there can be quite a discrepancy between when the message was
sent & rec'd, and since i know when it was re'cd (because [i] r'd it), the
listing is totally uninformative (might aswell be in alphabetical order) -
all other mobiles store in sent order & now i appreciate why

4 upgrades on & still none address any of these issues & whatever it saves -
a sleep mode will save 33% more

no you cant - there's at least 6 fixed tones on K700

well quite frankly i dont believe you dont want a choice - and quite frankly
you're pretending to 'lump it', and had i paid £25 (instead of £250) i'd
    lump it too

and since you dont know the other 5 tones -they may well be 'bohemian
rhapsody' - sure you still dont want a choice ??????????

unnecessary & it doesn't escape from all modes

    > Some valid but mostly niff naff and triv. Never had a SE before?

as indicated, you obviously dont use a mobile for work purposes - hence you
haven't spotted that the k700 is no more than a toy & cant be used as a
    professional tool - it's my 3rd and last S.E

Sounds like either a time zone problem or a carrier problem -- with a decent
carrier, almost all SMS messages are delivered in near real time, assuming
your handset is capable of receiving them (e.g., powered on).

You know that because you're a qualified engineer that's studied the design of
the phone?! ;-) Or are you just an unhappy ranter? Why not just take the

i notice you have cropped all my 'facts' that prove that 50% of what you say
is a lie, the other 50% is totally uninformed:

the K700 is like a car with climate control, cruise control, but no steering
wheel or indicators - you may 'say' you prefer not to have a steering
wheel - but i'm inclined to call that a lie (not an opinion), and it
certainly wont change the 'fact' that it doesn't have a steering wheel

    You're a very rude boy aren't you? It's a phone! That's all. The only
tones I use are for rings, txts and alarms. I can configure 2 of them.
the other one doesn't concern me. Personally I can't see how your, so
much vaunted professional requirements, require a greater choice of
message tones. If I use my phone at work it's on vibrate only. May I
recommend an Ipod? You get a big choice on one of them. If you really
did pay 250gbp for your phone, to use as a "professional tool" then it
really must cast doubts on your professional abilities. 30 seconds
research would have revealed that it is not a phone for such things.
Just look at the marketing campaign! You need a P900 or a Nokia 6600 or
such like. If I had impulse bought and then found what I got didn't meet
my requirements i'd be a little pissed off too. Don't take it out on us
    buddy, you ****ed up.

What profession is that, exactly? Nokia salesman?

I did some research. I noted that the K700i is able to make and
receive phone calls using various GSM networks. It also appears to
have SMS facility, and supports multiple methods of data connection.
It appears to have a screen of some sort, allowing the user to see (a)
what number is being dialled or (b) what number is calling (within
network limits). Also it has a battery, offering portability away
from a power source, and it small enough to fit in most pockets. I
would say it is perfectly suited to "business" use - unless that
business is solely the comparison of different impelementations by
different phone manufacturers, all of which would by definition be
    preferable to Sony Ericsson's.

    > it's my 3rd and last S.E

Does this mean you will no longer be active on this newsgroup?

no - it's a FACT - i have already proved it beyond question - the responses
    have been 'opinions'

even 'you' stated your 'opinion' relating to stored msg order:

    '......I personally prefer "sent" order.....'

which doesn't changed the FACT - k700i stored in "rec'd" order (not for
preference, but because it was totally unconsidered)

and supported by the 'fact' that alllllllllllll other mobiles store in sent
order (not some abitrary order) - does conclude, it's a
    considered/investigated/known/actioned point of FACT

Are you not missing the point? What *is* being disputed in this thread is
your assertion on how disabling these issues are (the ones that haven't been
dismissed outright). Such assertions are opinions, not facts!

My K700i does not have increasing ring volume unless selected. *****ing
"all" with more than 2 "l"s smells like ranting.

to bits . Please, be happy with your £35 phone. You obviously have
some sort of beef with the K700i - but this is the wrong newsgroup to

What makes me laugh is that this chap is such a dynamic professional
that the phone does not meet his demanding requirements. Any
professional worth his salt doesn't impulse buy and then complain about
the lack of features on said product. It's all a bit of a comedy really.

i have no 'sort of beef' with the K700i - i am being objective, honest &
factual - if you cant stand critism, than i suggest you bury your head in
