im beginning go think SE fones are designed to go wrong after a year.
my p900 was just a month out of warranty and one morning i turned it on
    and got 'wrong sim error'.

couldnt find much on the net but a flash was suggested. i took it to
the service centre who charged me £30 and it was still the same!!!
the guy seemed to think it was the 'locks' part of the fone that was
messed and said if you get it unlocked it should be ok, i tried several
    places with no luck.

in the end i had to send it away and charged another £50! SE actually
said the service centre has nothing to do with them! er hello they sent
    me there!

ive had a few SE fones and will not be buying anymore, i dont think
they have top features people want. my next fone will be the motorola
mpx i think motorola are now leading the market with their innovative
    models.

Not funny, he's quite right. Safe for the darn things starting to brake
after 6 months. The sad bit is: Name me the alternative to a P910i.
Please, do so, go ahead. All I want is a touchscreen, numeric keyboard,
caller id with picture, no windows mobile bs, has to play well with OS
X, but a Treo is way too large.

Sony Ericsson doesn't give a rat's ass about whether their customers are
happy with their product, they don't respond to eMail, and the poor
call centre people are told to send you off to work things out with your
provider. They know they can do it as, even with some of their products
stinking more than a barrel of herring, the "competition" just can't
compete. I really hope Motorola gets its act together, throws away the
crappy interfaces, and delivers some healthy kicking to SE's behind.

    Sad.

    Oliver

Top posting and a piss poor attempt at personal abuse all in the same post!
Are you after the wanker of the week award or something?

I think the points have been covered perfectly well in utm already, but if
you think that Motorola are a safer bet, then good luck to you (you'll need
it!). Even though I use a Motorola myself (V3) I'm not daft enough to
delude myself that they are in any way better than the older SE handsets
(T610/T630 etc.) in any other way than aesthetics.

It is not a SE problem. A warranty is an extension of your rights under the
Sale of Goods Act 1979. Take it up with the retailer. It is their problem,
    not the manufacturers.

You have to prove it does not work and thus not of satisfactory quality. If
they argue, write giving notice of court proceedings, claiming the cost of
repair and/or the cost of replacement.

Don't let the retailer fob you off. They will try to - almost certainly.
