I'm having a bit of a problem with my new Z500, purchased through Fido in
Canada. Basically, Windows XP refuses to see that it's there.

    1) Got a Sony Ericsson Z500
    2) Got a USB data cable
    3) Downloaded Sync Station softeware from SE Z500 support site
    4) Installed sync software and rebooted when prompted
    5) Connected phone to cable. Waited. Nothing happened.

Windows XP recognized the cable and installed drivers. The instructions on
the SE website don't mention anything else. So what am I missing? I'm
obviously missing a driver for the phone itself that, but can't seem to find
any reference to it anywhere. There's a link on the SE site to download
modem scripts, but they're not going to solve my problem.

Not sure if it's a solution as such, but I removed all the Sony-Ericsson
software I installed, removed all references to Sony Ericsson and the cable
from my system's registry, rebooted, and reinstalled from scratch. Worked
like a charm. Bit of a prute-force approach, but sometimes that's what you
    have to do.

I also downloaded and installed this software:

    http://fma.sourceforge.net/

It's open source and works better and provides more features than the stuff
SE provides. Might work for you too. It's worth a shot.
