For some reason my P900 will no longer backup to my pc.

The process seems to begin without problem but fails with an error message
showing on the phone screen - sorry haven't got a note of it - once it
    begins actually dealing with files.

    I'm using backup software version 1.15.9.12 - if that's any help! I've
recently updated the phone software using the Sony Ericsson update service.

Can anyone shed light on my problem and offer a solution?

    Re: Backup of P900

I have the same problem with my p910i using the same backup software.

I get Error code USER 30.

Multiple files can't be read etc etc.

I've tried SE support and am waiting for a reply. I'll post what I get.

Thanks for that - was beginning to wonder if anyone was going to respond!

I've just run the backup routine again to check what error message I get.
    Very similar to yours:

    Program backuppro: 00812B70
    Reason Code: USER
    Reason number: 30

I'll be delighted to see waht SE support have to say.

Someone else had this problem with the P900 and this was my remedy
then, had no problems since downloading their latest version of the
    s/w.

Yep had the same problem and the Ericsson Help on their website did
not give an answer until they came out with the later version. The
answer to the problem is now there.

    The cure is:

Remove the Ericsson software completely using the control panel's add
    & remove programmes.

If you have any software such as 'Registry First Aid Agent' then use
it to clear out redundant bits. Although this is not essential.

Switch off and re-boot your PC.

Do a fresh install of the Ericsson s/w and all should be O'K.

Your old backups will still be there.

If it's any consolation I have had to do it twice, most likely my
fault with being over zealous with my cleaning up from time ot time.

    Good luck

Mm, thanks Brian for that contribution.

What is the "latest version" of the SE Software Suite? I've recently updated
the phone from the SE website using the updater software - might that have
    implications?

Al I know is that the Backup & Restore option, of the PC Suite, that
    I have is
    Ver.1.14.6..7

My PC Suite is 3.0.0 the download of which I still have.

The S.E. website has a very good Support page & Knowledge Base, the
latest PC Suite is shown as Ver.3.1.1 link below. I have d/l'd and
    will try out some time.

    http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?...=9926&esi=true

I believe that removing the suite then re-installing cured MY problem
    yours may be different.

    Good luck

    Re: Backup of P900

    Brian, that's very interesting.

My Backup / Restore software is newer than yours - and I guess the Suite is
    a later one too.

Perhaps I should go back to using the original one which came with the
phone. Mind you I had assumed that the latest phone software would prefer
working with the most recent Software Suite.

    Any comments on that?

I've seriously got to the stage where I'm thinking I may give my P900 to a
friend and go for a P910i - thus making something of a fresh start.

Any comments on the P910i itself?

I'm afraid I cannot comment yet on the latest Software as I have not
tried it. Nor can I speak on the P910 as I am very happy with the P900
and have had no experience with the P910.

I re-iterate it is important you remove completely the installed SE PC
Suite (see above), SWITCH OFF YOUR PC THEN RESTART before re-loading
    the software again.

As and when I try the latest Versions should I experience problems I
    will let you know
