I have found out that if you create an XHTML file and store it on the phone
in the "Other" folder, you can open it in the wap browser by entering the
address file:///tpa/user/other/<filename>.xhtml I have done that, and also
set is as the start page in the wap browser, so that when I press the
Internet buton, the phone displays this page instead of fetching one from
the internet, typically the phone operator's web portal which is filled with
graphics and other stuff that takes time to download before it can be
displayed. Now, I'm looking for a java based text editor so that I can edit
the xhtml file directly on the phone instead of having to transfer it to a
computer and back again. Anyone that knows about such an editor? It's
sufficient if it is a plain text editor, but is should be capable of reading
and writing files on the "Other" file folder.

You can't interact with the file system through java as yoru phone is not a
'smarphone' - sorry, no chance.
