It's all in the manual you got with your phone, and on the CD that came
with it.
Presuming, of course, that you weren't silly enough to buy a stolen one off
eBay, in which case, you deserve what you get

Ian,
Start with your product support page on Sony Ericsson's web site and
that will show you links to various documents, software and other
information. The software you're looking for is called PC Suite - it's
a free download from their web site. And don't worry about what the
other poster says - I bought several SE phones from a store and didn't
receive a CD with any of them - that's just the way they are packaged by
some providers (Cingular in my case).

Re: sony K800i
You have 3 possibilties as written in the manual.
Precondition: Install the softwar you got with the phone on your PC!
1. You can connect the USB cable you got with the phone, open the
software and copy with the file-manager which is inside the software.
Alternatively you open the file manager in your phone, go to the file
you want to transfer und click: send it to ....
2. Activate Bluetooth on your phone and on your PC.
Pair Bluetooth.
Send the file either from the phone to the PC via file manger or copy
the file(s) via SE-software
3. Transfer the file(s) to the memory card and than copy from the
memory card to the PC.

Thomas

Re: sony K800i
Hi Ian,
obviouesly the K800i is called on the US-website K790a, at
least this they write on their main page.
Open their main page and write inside the "surch" field K800i
This is the link to download all software applicable for the K800i:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?...s1_1&pid=10411
Load down the PC Suite and install on your PC.
There is also other software which you should load down, if you did
not got a CD when you bought the phone.
Memory M2
Insert the memory card into the slot at the right small side.
Than go to settings and apply that all data shall be stored there.
The are two choices: a) phone b) memory card
regards,
Thomas
PS Excuse my writing, but I am German ad write from here.

In which case, everything you need to know is in the manual on the CD that
came with your phone, as is the software.

No, thank YOU for overreacting to a sensible answer.

I am also confused about your questions. All this you ask about is very
basic information about the K800i and the answers are actually printed on
the two or three first pages of the user manual, directly after the
instructions about how to install the battery and connect the charger. The
manual should certainly be shipped along with the phone, even if it is
Orange branded. Didn't you ... erm I mean your daughter ... ;-) read it? If
you or your daughter don't have the user manual, you or your daughter can
download it as a PDF file from SonyEricsson's web page: (Support/Product
support, select phone model and click the "user guides" link, or use this
direct link: http://www.sonyericsson.com/download..._UG_R1a_EN.pdf
About the software on the CD: I would recommend that you don't use it.
Instead, download the latest version of the Sony Ericsson PC Suite from
SonyEricsson's web
(http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?...late=ps1_1_3_1
&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10407). The version on the CD is probably out of date.
About the memory stick: There are different opinions about what to use it
for. Most people put their mp3 files and use it as bulk storage for the
pictures from the camera. The phone book resides on the phone's internal
memory, but there is a backup function that allows you to create a backup
file of the phone book that is stored on the MS. Personally, I prefer to
store as much information as possible on the memory stick rather than on the
phone's internal memory, in case the phone needs to be replaced, for
example, or if you want to switch to another phone, it's much easier to
preserve and move data if it resides on the removable memory stick than if
it's in the phone's memory.

I left Orange a couple of years ago. When I was with them whatever phone I
got off them had their version of an instruction manual that had more to do
with their policies of trading than how to use the phone you had just
bought. Even basic stuff like how to put a pause in a phone number by
pressing the[*] key was unavailable. I doubt if they have changed over the
last couple of years. The above link you gave would have been more use than
the hidden accusation that the OP originally got.
FWIW before I bought any phone from Orange I downloaded the manual from the
manufacturers site and any phone model that did not have the manual on the
web I just did not buy. I got that advise from an Orange user/dealer group
that Orange apparently closed down.
