When I use the 'Magic Word' feature on my HBH-35 headset with my P800, the
phone picks up the magic word, and the voice recognition of the number I
want to dial, and then... makes the call with the audio confined to the
    handset!

    Am I doing something stupid?

    Hi,

Check the settings at Phone > Preferences > Handsfree.

There you can specify if the call is connected to the handsfree or to the
    phone by default.

It's the first thing I checked. If I press the button ont the headset it
works fine - incoming calls work fine too. Even when I dial from the phone
it works fine and passes the call to the headset.

But when I use Magic Word it makes the call wih the audio at the handset!

I believe you require a BT headset that has "hands-free" profile in
addition to the pre-requist "headset profile" for this scenario to work
(e.g. HBH-60 or some of the newer 3rd party BT headsets)

    regards,

Thanks to both of you for the responses.

This seems odd - the HBH-35 is a genuine Sony Ericsson item sold as 'hands
free'. And the phone responds to the magic word over the headset - it just
doesn't pass the call it is making *back* to the headset.
