Am I missing something?
The Ericsson Phone Settings application allows me to edit the existing
settings on my T39 -- but I can't see any way of backing up those settings
to the PC.
If it does -- how?
If it doesn't -- why not, and is there another application I can use
instead?
TIA.

<http://set300.wz.cz/download/phonebackup.zip> is what you need. It backs up
all the stuff that the Ericsson software ignores (WAP settings, bookmarks,
profile settings, data accounts, etc., but not voice dial or command tags)
and it's free! :-)
The site where the software was originally from,
<http://www.christersson.org>, seems to be down, so have to download it from
some Czech server. Hope you don't mind. ;-)
Kind regards,
Olaf

Works a treat -- thanks for that.
And now the question is -- why couldn't Ericsson do something like that?

Who cares? It's all right as long as it works and doesn't cost a penny,
isn't it? :-)
I suppose the Swedes were just too busy with selling their company to the
Japanese in the first place rather than losing any sleep over how to make
users' lives a little easier. ;-)
BTW, I remember that Andrew Mitchell started to write a nice little Ericsson
FAQ about one year ago. Unfortunately, the project was "shelved" half-way
through. I've continued the work and have developed it into a quite
comprehensive T39/R520/T68 FAQ, although most topics still apply to the
latest SonyEricsson models, only with the P800 smartphone excepted. However,
I've written it all in my native language. So, if there are any volunteers
who are willing to help with translating/proof-reading all the stuff back
from German into a civilised language ;-), it could be posted to this group
frequently, or at least a link could be published.
Waiting for your feedback...
Kind regards,
Olaf
