I just got a T226 and love it; but it seems a little fragile. I can easily
picture dropping it and watching it shatter. I have seen some cheap
"unlocked" phones on Ebay. They claim you can simply remove the SIM from
the old phone and start using it? Is it really that simple?
How do I tell if the new phone really is unlocked.
I did a <**< and found only my network was locked. Presumably that is on
the SIM? I don't want to change networks, so I guess that doesn't matter?
I guess both phones and SIMs can be locked, but don't really understand it.
Is there a website somewhere that explains all this stuff?
Thanks.

your PHONE is locked. nothing *really* to do with sim...
you can buy an unlocked phone and start using it with your existing sim. it
is that simple.

So, my phone can only be used with my network? That is okay, since I don't
want to change.
If I put my SIM in a new phone, how I do I get it on my network? I know how
to do a network search. Do I do that and then pick the right network? (on
my phone it just comes up with my network, but I suppose that is because it
is locked.)

Re: Moving SIM from one phone to another??
Put in Sim, close cover, put on pho,ne, enter your usual pin-code, ready.
The phone will look for itself and when it finds the 'home' network it will
log on by itself and you can start calling.
It is really that simple.
(That means you can 'borrow' a phone from someone if ever your phone doesn't
work and you are in some situation. Put your sim in and go.)
The only thing you might have to check are several options that you need to
set yourself, like the voicemail number, sms service number etc. The
phonebook will be available as long as it is all saved to the sim on your
other phone.
