Does anyone else think the t68i menus are far too slow? It seems that almost
every time I try to do something, I need to wait for the dam phone to catch
up by which time i think its not working and have somehow cancelled the
    command.

The z600 looks like a cracker. Does anyone think that the menu system will
be quicker or does anyone have experience of using it? Would love to know
when its coming out in the UK & a good vendor (either shop or Internet
based) to buy this phone on an unlocked contract (O2 or Vodafone).

    TIA.

I had the same complaint with my T68i. The memory or bios or whatever
you call it was version R2, the store flashed it with version R7 and
it seemed to really help. There was no charge for this, and it took
    only a few minutes.

    FWIW.

Currently at version R5 and it is no better than the R2 it came with. I
would get it flashed but I cant be bothered with the hassle as the SE phone
backup product is giving me hassle.

As I said. I upgraded from R6 to R8. Difference was surprising. 2-3 times
    faster

To see which software version you have, from standby press - >*<<*<* for the
service menu, <**< for the locks menu

I took my T68i to the Carphone Warehouse last Saturday to get mine upgraded
from R2E to R8A, they send them to Ericsson and it takes 14 days :-(

Isn't there other ways to change the firmware?

In the UK you just take it to an SE approved Service Centre for a free
upgrade (within warranty) which should take no more than a couple of
hours depending on how busy they are, this also applies to the Vodafone
Live! customisation on my T610 which I'll get removed along with the
Network lock at some point afterwards. SE UK provided me with the
contact details of my nearest centre.

    (<) and (>) - Joystick Direction (*), - Asterisk key

If only you could use a data cable and download and use the software on a
PC, which would save even more hassle, still the new P900 can be upgraded
    over WAP :-).
My one warranty runs out in mid-November, so it won't cost me anything

I dont doubt it mate, just that the service centre is a good few miles from
me and as I said, I am having some problems with getting backup to work on
    my crappy laptop.

Plus I'm hoping to get the Z600 as soon as it comes out so hopefully won't
    need to do this.

Another annoying thing about the t68i (which apart from these two things is
a cracking phone IMO), the damn volume button on the side is a poor design
feature. There should be another way to adjust the volume but isnt for some
reason. First time it stopped working and I took it back and got it
repaired, 2nd time I dropped it and they refused to fix it so my volume is
permanently stuck on too high - the only solution is to use my bluetooth for
all calls but unfortunately that died on me a couple of weeks ago and is
    back with Celestica getting repaired/replaced.
