Sony Ericsson T630 When?

Hi there,

Does anyone out there know when the Sony Ericsson T630 is due to be released
in the UK? I am thinking of punting for a T610 but, depending on the T630
release date could be prepared to wait for a better screen.

Thanks,

Tom

What differs regarding the screens between the two?

The T610 is surprisingly bad in bright light conditions. Probably the
phone's only real fault, along with the fairly poor battery capacity.

Dones'nt beat my ol' stolen Nokia, the 8310 or whatsisname, it lasted on
standby for 2+ weeks. Don't know if the bluetooth stuff makes my T610 drain
its battery so quickly or what the heck's going on, but I can't get it to
last much more than one week, if that much, even if I don't make any calls
at all or don't touch the camera (which drains battery like a madman btw).

I think he meant compared to the color display Nokia models.

or even non Li-Ion B&W phones - e.g. the 3310 with its original battery
is only a 2 day affair.

What about the inability to use your own sounds as message/reminder alerts,
the very poor camera and the poor reception?

So what? Never use that facility anyway

>the very poor camera

It weighs nothing, costs sod-all and isn't very good. The very best
mobile phone camera is nothing like as good as £100 digital camera.

>and the poor reception?

Not true. The RF performance of my T610 and of the three or four
others I've used has been excellent.

Don't care about that.

I've seen worse.

Seems to work most of the time?

As an ex-T28 user, the T610 has a smaller higher capacity battery &
considerably longer battery life!

BT doesn't take so much power when left on as it did with my T39. The
main weakness is no expandable memory which is a poor oversight for a
phone with a camera. The display is the best I've seen - when used
inside! For those who don't mind the thickness of clamshells & don't
like tiny keypads, the Z600 has to be a better choice, one review stated
the RF performance was better with the Z600, though I'm sceptical his
T610 wasn't a preproduction model.

Many Nokias probably beat the SEs RF performance though, not that that's
enough to swing me towards Nokia personally but to me any phone is only
as good as it's ability to make & receive calls in marginal areas,
however good the display or battery life is etc.

So? It works. If you want a better camera, buy a real digital camera.

It has got nothing to do with the phone, it's the AREA you are in. It works
fine for me apart from the bad area.

Dunno bout the T28, I can only compare to my previous phone, which was a
Nokia. Not that I can't stand charging this one a bit more often, but it's a
bit silly a phone that is over a year older than this one beats it so
handily when battery life is concerned. SE could have fitted a bigger,
better battery I'm sure, considering all the gadgetry they squeezed in that
drains power... .

> main weakness is no expandable memory which is a poor oversight for a

Well, the low res still allows me to fit 20+ pics in it, more if I could
delete all that junk in the flashram I don't want, nor need. How do I get
rid of the predefined backgrounds, ringtunes, themes etc??? Is it at all
possible?

> The display is the best I've seen - when used inside!

Which sort of is when you don't NEED a cellphone! LOL, unless when you're
in a train or a mall or such, I guess.

I don't mind, but the T610 was the best phone for me when I bought it. I
could have gone for a Nokia camera phone, but the only one they had with
bluetooth didn't support headsets, so that didn't work. My T610 with the
HBH-35 headset is a wonder to use with voice dialling, it's bloody
marvellous! I luuuvv this combo! Also, the design of both is very stylish
(imo).

who in their right mind buys a phone to use the camera? I have yet to see a
phone camera that is any good.

> and the poor reception?

can't be as bad as the t68i for reception. Absolutely atrocious. I hear the
t610 is better than the t68i & the z600 is better than the t610.

Anyway, have you got any polyphonic tones for me? I've managed to get hold
of about 20MB worth which I can mail if you want (or even bung on a CD). One
thing is that they are all 20kb and above, any idea if it is possible to
shorten them?

Ummmm... *raises hand*

The camera was one of the reasons I got my T610. I knew it wouldn't be
perfect, but what the hey, it's better than NOTHING!

I've had lots of uses for that camera, I guess the T610 will easily last me
until 3G phones are common and have gone down considerably in price/size and
up in performance/battery life. Perhaps then we'll have good cameras built
into our phones...
