Ok, so the program provided by erricson will not work without Outlook**
(Thanks Ericsson, like a want to lay out another few hundred quid just to be
    able to use my phone)

Are there any other programs out there that I can use to syncronise my Phone
    book entries?

** I have outlook97, which it appears not to recognise

Do a search on google for a program called "floAt's Mobile Agent", I use it
    and think its fantastic!
Heaps of features, much better then the original SE software, and best of
    all this program is free!

You need Outlook 2000 or higher - I personally would strongly recommend you
upgrade (You'll need at least Win98 SE).

    You'll never look back!

fma certainly is a very good and very cool piece of software, especially
with scripting capability!! but at the moment, no Outlook synching, although
it is in the pipeline. also, it will only be compatible with o/look 200+ and
looks doubtful to be backwards compatible, although if enough people write
into the forum and request it, things could change.

You need at least Outlook 98, not 2000. I know that for certain as I used
OL98 and XTND Connect PC for about six months before I changed to OL2000.

Win98 SE is correct, SE software doesn't run on Win95.

    Kind regards,

I'm sure my office laptop has something ridiculous like Outlook 97 & XTND
    works with that.

Outlook98 was a free & significant upgrade & is still probably available
with a bit of searching. I got it with a mag a few years back. Two
threads on this subject - shows enthusiasm I suppose!

    I stand corrected.

I would still recommend Office 2000 or higher + Win XP.

    Never looked back...........

Whatever one says about XP being horribly bloated is probably true, but
DAMN, it's the best OS I've ever used! It's fantastic, it works so well, and
as long as it doesn't swap, it's FAST too. I'm kicking myself I sat for as
long as I did with those pieces of ****e that were the various win9x
versions, they SUCK. I knew they sucked, but now I know it even MORE!

As long as one has the RAM and a decent system otherwise there really isn't
a better desktop OS than XP. It's a pain to patch it up though unless one
    has a broadband internet connection...

Agreed - it was about time MS released a consumer OS based on the rock solid
"all programs run in separate memory spaces to the base OS" NT Kernel
instead of the "1 dodgy program takes out the whole OS" Win9x kernel!!

Dunno why I put up with 98 for so long!

    will not connect

Well, that's halfway there SE's own s/w & XTNDC all rely on the Phone
Monitor program to work. Make sure PM's port number is the same as the
*Client* port number in the BT stack for starters. I went as far as
reserving it & disabling the rest to get it to work every time.

This subject has be covered extensively in this NG as it has in
alt.cellular.bluetooth so a search in either should assist you & others
with similar problems. Just remember it can be made to work - it
    shouldn't be this hard but..
I can send you a copy of Outlook98 upgrade if you still need it as you
appear to be posting from the UK.

What's the point in supporting anything less than Outlook 2000? If you can't
afford it get Office 2003 via the warez route and feel no shame because you
couldn't even afford a second hand copy of 2000. If you couldn't afford it
you wasn't going to buy it anyway hence M$ lose no cash and you get what you
want for everything to work and also add a user to M$'s prestigeous office
package to make it more likely for someone else to buy it when you point out
    the fantastic benefits of it....

Outlook 203 has the best interface of all although it still could be
    improved a little.
