Anyone know where I can get a list of SE service center locations? Or even
better yet, does anyone know of anyone in upstate SC that can flash my new
T616 with the latest firmware? I currently have R1A (on a brand new phone!
GAH!), and the phone is completely unlocked.

I suggest e-mailing SE via their website. You'll get a reply within a couple
of days with address' for nearest centre to take your phone there and to
send via post. You will need proof of purchase for both methods plus it's
wise to put all phone numbers, up to 99, on to the sim card.

they do not have any links to service centres through the website anymore.

Apologies - they still list the centres on my localised Sony Ericsson site
(sonyericsson.com.au), seems strange that they wouldn't do it across all
their regional sites.

Thank you much. I shot them an email the other day, but thus far no
response. I must practice patience <wink>.
Do you know what they need for proof of purchase? I am not sure I retained
the receipt.

Practice lots of patience, sent them a question over a month ago, eventually
got a response to say they would get back to me in 2 days. Over 2 weeks
later, no response. Responded mentioning the case number, "sorry, lost your
case, what was the question again?" Still waiting. How do you lose a case
number from a computerised system???

When I went to an SE service centre to get a software update, they scanned
the phone's IMEI number to check the warranty. Depends how up to date they
are though, best to phone ahead.

Well, you're stupid enough to post a question directed at yourself. Go

agreed, phone ahead first, but maybe your contract, if you are on one that
is. otherwise, not sure, just ring and ask/beg/plead/bribe your way into
getting them to do it.

If you don't know the correct answer, please don't post lies, moron. And if
you do, and make a mistake, expect to be flamed when you are doing it in a
sassy sort of omnipotent way, just to get your dick crammed in the dirt when
you are wrong. I asked a simple question, to which you wrongly answered
rudely, so of course I am going to post something equally as stupid.

Better than e-mailing them just call them for info.
I just purchased a T616 and was trying to get its firmware upgraded.
SE has two numbers:
The main customer service/technical support
# 800-374-2776
but if you call them they'll direct you to the SE Software/Firmware
support which is
# 877-234-3249
I called them and told me that there were no local walk in service
centers in my area (Nor Cal) and I'd have to send the phone in to have
it done. There is no charge for the upgrade but there is a $37
shipping charge to send the phone back to you. They said the normal
turn around time is 24 to 48 hrs after the phone is received by them.
But... after reading numerous phone forums, people whom have sent
their phone to SE have said it takes weeks (2+) and many are still
waiting for the phone to return.
So after further reading of the phone forums I found a place a lot of
people recommended that can do the job quickly. More info on them is
at
www.globalmob.com
I just sent them my phone on Mon 12/15 and I should get it back
tommorrow 12/18.
Before sending them my phone, I called them to ask them a few
questions. My main question was what was the difference between
sending my phone to SE and getting it upgraded or sending it to them.
They told me that they were SE, or in other words, they were a
contractor that SE uses to upgrade their phones.
If it wasn't for the other positive reviews/comments from others, I
won't have sent my phone to them.
If you like some major info on your phone (and other SE phones)
including upgrades, go to this forum:
http://www.howardforums.com/forumdis...030&forumid=37
or if that link is bad go to:
http://www.howardforums.com/
then select the Manufacturers Discussion_SonyEricsson link
hope this helps.

Re: SE service center
Thanks for the info. I have read much positive info on
http://www.globalmob.com/ also. I guess I will just go this route as I have
no desire to be left on hold for an hour or so with SE CS.
