It seems that I already found solution on how to add certificates:
MacOS exported certificate did not just work. When I exported the
certificate in DER format from Window 2000 certificate management
tool, P800 accepted and successfully imported my self-signed
certificate to its trusted certificates list.
Unfortunately when I try to connect to either 465 (SMTP over SSL) or
933 (IMAPS) from P800, the mail program just hangs (says connecting to
mail.foo.bar.com, but does nothing). Any guesses what could be wrong?
Server is using courier-imal-tls, exim-tls and sslwrap to create
ssmtp. Everything works just fine from other client programs).

I think you should allow the mail client to issue the STARTTLS instead
of using port 465 (traditionally used for SSL without STARTTLS).

Also, for the IMAP, same thing, stick to 143 and use STARTTLS instead.
