Reading through several posts via Google, I still cannot seem to get an
answer to my predicament! I have the above phone, the above network
provider and way too often I get the display "SOS calls only". I have
spoken to Vodafone who know nothing about it, I have spoke to SE who
know nothing about it....surely someone must know something? It's
getting so frustrating now that i'm really considering dumping Vodafone
as my instincts tell me the problem lies with them. I do however seem to
remember having the same same problem with my T68i a few years ago, but
I was with T-Mobile then!!
Any of you guys able to help me out??

Re: Z600 + Vodafone + SOS Calls Only
This message appears when your cellular can't find his network,
or a network on which it has got rights.
So, either the coverage is very poor where you are, or your cellular
is bad, or your sim is bad. Can you try with a friend's sim inserted in
your own phone ?
Did you pay your last bill ? ;-)))

Re: Z600 + Vodafone + SOS Calls Only
This is a problem which goes back years (use google to search the ng for "no
network" problem).
Used to be a HW problem with T39, then firmware, but basically it is the SE
way of not getting a signal from your provider.
Note how you can have 2-3 signal strength bars but still "SOS calls only" -
the phone is telling you that you are getting a signal but it's not the one
you are subscribed to.
Nokia et all do not seem to do this the same way so the problem isn't seen
by those phone makers.
just my 2 eurocents worth...

Re: Z600 + Vodafone + SOS Calls Only
I don't think that the Z600 has the same 'No network' problem than the
t39...
But I think the sensibility of the Radio is average like in almost all
ericsson phones... (except P800 and P900)

I have had this problem with the Z600 too. I've only seen it once though and
it was when I was round a mate's flat where the signal strength is very low.

I have had my Z600 for a week and I have seen this message 3 times.
Always in an area where the signal strength is low. BTW, I am with O2.

"SOS calls only" is when there is no signal on your network, but there is a
signal on another nework.
This means you can't make a call, but if it's an emergency, you can "borrow"
another network's transmitter
