SE T610 Internet Connection Settings

Internet on my Sony Ericsson T610 no longer works. Now I get a message
saying "Communication error. Try again or check your settings."
Can I fix this manually or do I need a firmware update or what?

Also, the phone tried to do some sort of automatic update a couple of
weeks ago and it didn't work. Ever since then no internet. Called
Fido and they were no help.
