I'm using an old Motorola DPC888 (old style flip) with a 'Gemini' phone
line adapter for backup of my home alarm communications.
Soon the local carrier (Rogers/ATT) will be shutting down the AMPS system
and this phone will 'drop dead'.
I am looking to locate a phone which is the electrical equivalent of the
DPC888 into which the original battery eliminator and phone line adapter
can be connected.
Local GSM frequencies are 850/1900 - so I guess I will have to live with a
1900 MHz solution.
But I ask the group:
What is Motorola's GSM equivalent to the old DPC888?
If anyone has a working, unlocked version for sale 'cheap', please let me
know.
Reply by e-mail - adjust the address appropriately.
TIA

Re: What is the North American GSM equivalent to the DPC888?
No such animmal. Your cheapest solution will be to get a NOKIA 5190 or 6190
(cheap on EBAY around $30) and get one of the original version CellSockets.
This will let the NOKIA drop into the Cell Socket, Alrm into the Cell Socket
and do exactly what the Rig you have now setup to do, dial out a pre
programmed alarm number. The Cell Sockets are going around $30 as well.
Should get you up and running for around $60 +/- and then you gotta get a
number. Hopefully PrePaid will keep getting cheaper.
