    You can store numbers on SIM or phone. Storing on SIM is very limited -
    no per contact rings or pics, only one entry per person. Avoid.

    I read somewhere that this can be done by creating a zero byte file of
    exactly the same name on your PC as the one you wish to delete on the phone,
    then Bluetooth it to the phone overwriting the locked one. This then
    (apparently) overwrites the file which is then unlocked and therefore can be
    deleted.

    I haven't tried this, but will do as soon as my v600 turns up in the next
    day or two.
