Hello (".)
I have recently purchased a Moto V525 on Vodafone in the UK and it has
Vodafone Live installed, which is set as the right soft key from the main
screen! I have no real need or interest in using the Live services and would
like to remove them or at the very least set up the right softkey for
another function........however, the ability to change the right softkey has
been removed/disabled in the settings! Anyone got any ideas how to bypass
this problem or remove the Live stuff?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: V525 - Vodafone Live - How to remove!
Hi
unfortunatly the only way to remove the vodafone live from the rightsoft key
is to have the handset software flashed to orignal sim free software.
Vodafone has the exclusive rights to that handset, which means you will not
be able to get it on any other network apart from vodafone.
This is the same with the v300 on t mobile. Now T mobile have been crafty,
by not letting you change any of the wap settings. So if you want to use it
on another network, you will be able to use the mms, but not the wap.

Cheers Jay,
Is it possible to actually remove the configurations so that it is even if
you press the Voda Live button it won't access the services?

This is not entirely true. You CAN have the phone unlocked by many
companies for a small fee. I actually negotiated with Vodafone that they
unlock the phone (v525) for me free of charge which they did. This only
removes the 'any network' block, it does not remove the Live crap.

Am I right to assume that the phone to which you refer was pay-as-you-go?
All was always on the belief that contract phones were not locked to the SP;
certainly true of my old Nokia 8310 and 330, both on Vodafone.
I ask because I always sell on the old phone when I get a new one ... and I
advertise as SP-free. I do test the phone under a T-Mobile and Orange SIM
card, beforehand. Just wondering if I am likely to expect problems when it
comes time to get rid of the V525.

No, this is a contract phone.

Not always, depends on the provider and handset.
The v525 is a vodafone Live only phone, it seems this model is made only for
vodafone and therefore locked to Vodafone. They can be unlocked but are
only sold (from Vodafone) locked.

The v525 will be locked unless you purchased it unlocked. If you got it
from Vodafone then it will be locked. Unlocking is around £10 to £15.
