We have two Motorola T720 phones that are about 1 1/2 years old and both
have had some issues with their ability to charge when connected (either
shows "Unable to Charge" or just plain won't start charging). One will
usually work if disconnected and reconnected, but the other seems to only
charge if the charge wire is twisted hard in one direction and held there.
This seems to be a common issue with Motorola, as we recently visited a
friends house who had a newer model and they experience similar issues. Is
there anything that can be done to fix this (ex. has anyone tried bending
the terminals in the charge wire to attempt to make a better connection or
something similar)?

I had that problem too. I solved it by buying a cheap desktop charger off
ebay. Pluugged the cable into the charger, then left it there. Phone charged
OK when placed onto desktop charger. Usually needed the flip open though
before it would charge.
If nothing else it saves wear and tear on the cable plug.

I have the same problem with a v525, the mains charger is very tempermental
but my cheapo car charger works every time. I can't figure out if it's pin
alignment problems or poor wiring.

I've got the same problem with my v300. It's picky...at least once a
week when I plug in the supplied charger, it'll give me the unable to
charge message.
