Precisely. What's the point in paying for extended warranty coverage
while the original manufacturer's warranty is still in effect? This
coverage is provided by VZW. It is not the same thing as the
insurance you can buy. So yes, wait until your 11th month of
    ownership before signing up.

Dude, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you're screwed right
    there.

Talk to the manager. If you are staying on the same plan, I don't see
why they would need to prorate. If you aren't, I'd just wait until
your billing date gets closer. But if you only have 400 minutes left
for the rest of your month and continue to use it at the same rate,
you will be getting hit with one hell of an overage charge anyways.

There have been scattered reports of "moving keypads" on the V710, but
mine is as solid as the proverbial, umm, rock.

Nope. You can move images back and forth from the phone to your
desktop via the SD card adapter for Transflash (included with the TF
card when you buy it) and the SD reader on your PC. I've done it a
bunch of times. The only extra step is if you store the image in the
phone...hit the Menu key and move it to the TF card (which shows up in
the phone as "TRI-MMC" for some reason).

    >Are there card readers available for the transflash cards that work on
    >desktop USB ports instead of laptops?

There are no TF card readers as far as I know...the TF card should
come with an SD adapter, which converts it to a full-sized SD card
readable by anything that reads SD cards. My laptop has an SD slot
built in (as does my PDA) and it works fine. You slide the TF card
into the SD adapter and then insert that card into the SD slot.

There are a zillion USB readers for SD cards or multiple cards... all
the ones I've used work on both desktop and laptop computers.

There are "issues" with the V710 which are pretty much outlined here:

    http://www.nuclearelephant.com/papers/v710.html

(scroll down past the wordy rant at the top)

If you're interested in the phone, you should read this - particularly
the "Things I Like" and "Things I Dislike" section and see if any of
    it applies to you.

For me, virtually none of the oft-stated "issues" either show up on my
phone or apply to me in how I use the phone. I use the phone for,
well, phone calls, which it handles quite well via the very good RF
section in the phone. No, not very good, excellent. I also use
Bluetooth, but only use the services included in the V710 -
handsfree/speakerphone and data connections to the Internet, and all
    of it works well.

It's up to you if the phone, as it currently stands, meets your needs.
For what *I* want, I'm thrilled with it. It's the best phone I've
ever owned, and performs like a champion. Ignore the trolls like
