The charger furnished with the Vx00 phones is not a rapid charger; however
Motorola sells rapid wall chargers for other Motorola and Nextel models. After
a complete battery run-down, I tried the 1.5 ampere SPN4716B (from my Nextel
    phone) on my V525.

Since this charger can output over 3 times the current of the stock Vx00
charger, I wanted to see if it would charge more rapidly. The phone
definitely recognizes it as a higher-output charger, as the external
display backlight stays illuminated continuously (instead of turning off
after 30 seconds or so, as with the stock charger).

After an hour, or so, I checked the battery gauge and it hadn't moved any
faster than with the stock charger. Further, the phone was getting kinda
warm ... so I chickened out and went back to the OEM unit.

Are higher-output rapid chargers compatible with the V300/400/500/600?

Will they charge the batteries any faster, or merely dissipate the extra
    power as additional heat?

Motorola has a rapid charger for the Vx00 series. The Motorola number is
    NNTN4250B.

Thanks but ... isn't that a Nextel part number? How can it be "for" the
    V300/400/500/600 series?
