I have a v600 that i got off ebay that i had intended to use with o2 here in
Ireland. it's unlocked and although the phone functions work fine the
T-Mobile software is still on the phone making it impossible for me to
program the GPRS settings for o2.

I took it to a shop and they told me that the T-Mobile V600 has a hardware
ROM chip in it that prevents re-flashing of the phone.

so my quesiton is this, are they bull****ting me or is this the case?

I have some experience of unlocking Nokia phones, and I have to admit this
is news to me if it's true.
Am I stuck or is there a way to get this done? If so then can someone let
me know what I need and where to get it cheaply (I don't want to go into
business, just want my own done).

    Thanks.

The person you spoke to is incorrect. The phone can be flashed and flexed.
You can also edit seems to enable access to Web Sessions.

Vist http://www.howardforums.com for all the info you want on doing all of
    this.

    thanks that's great.

    thanks for the reply.

he edid say it was just t-mobile phones though, but you reckon 100% that he
was full of it? it's not possible he was right and i'm going to kill my
    phone by flashing/flexing it?

He is 100% incorrect. Take a look at howardforums.com for yourself (Motorola
fourm). I personally have a V300 and have edited the seems to add the V600's
video playback capability as well as increased volumes and added back in the
Web Sessions. I'd recommend editing a seem to add in Web Sessions instead of
flexing the phone (a flash won't restore the Web Sessions (flash = software,
    if I rememeber correctly).
