I see references to T Mobile, Cingular, etc, but not Cellular one. Am I the
    only one?

We just re-upped with them, and got three Motorola V180s. I was window
shopping for replacement V180s on eBay, just to see if they were available,
and noticed phones set for other networks, but not for Cellular One. Could
one of the other carriers have the same code as Cellular One, or is each
    carrier unique?

If I had to replace a phone, would Cellular One unlock a phone set for
another carrier, and set it up me Cell One?

    Thanks

Cell One is a co-operative of many different carriers. its just a brand
name. Dobson, Western Wireless, Smith Bagley, and others provide
service under the cell one brand name.

So it depends on who the underlying carrier is.

Sorry for the newbie questions. I'm trying to find out how to replace a
phone quickly, easily, and relatively cheaply when the need arises. After
searching around for a bit, I'm still left with several basic questions.

Since I don't see any of those Cell One brands on eBay, if I need to
replace a phone, it looks like I'm restricted to unlocked phones. Can I use
an unlocked phone simply by inserting my sim card?

Would Cell One unlock a phone that is locked to a different carrier, and
're-lock' it to their carrier? Is there generally a fee for this?

    Appreciate the help.

Since you have a SIM I'm assuming you need a GSM phone. Buy any GSM
phone that's unlocked and just insert your SIM and you'll be in
business. BTW, I have an unlocked v600 with lot's of accessories for
    auction right now at:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MESE:IT
or just search for item #5746304424 on www.ebay.com.

Just make sure whatever GSM phone you buy supports 1900 and 850 mhz.
TMob sold several that will not work on 850 which is what a lot of the
    GSM cell one franchises use.
