Everything you need to use it as a phone is simply perfect - but among that
there are some drawbacks which might be important to you:

    - it syncs only dates and phonebook (with restrictions) with outlook, no
    tasks, no notes
    - if you want to access a number from the phonebook you can only access the
first letter and then have to scroll, which is very slow. If you have e.g.
30 contacts starting with "s" it might take a while
    - every number is a contact! If you have a contact in Outlook with office
phone, private, mobile and fax the V3 will make 4 seperate contacts! Only
name no company information. You need to know where Mr Mayer works ;-)

    Regards,
    Andi

Is there a way to work around that?
The v500 and v600 have the same trouble and it's a step back for Motorola:
the previous phones (i.e.: Timeport) had the possibility to search for a
contact with the first 3 name's letters.
Motorola should issue a free update downloadable from their web site: would
    that be possible?
Can you all spread the word around till it gets to Motorola's ears?

Interesting -- My i730 (iDEN) phone is the other way around, it allows
multiple numbers per contact, but I can only type one letter per contact
    when searching.

Why would they go back and forth with this functionality? They've
obviously thought of both options, why not include them?

It's not an optical illusion. It just looks like one.

The guys at Motorola should take a look at Nokia and SonyEricsson. Thats
the way a 2005 should work. But these ar mini-bugs. Easily to be corrected
    with a firmware update.

The software of Motorola E1000 allows you type more than a letter for
    searching a contact.

Great piece of hardware in function and form, but horribly let down by
the firmware and the associated mobile Phone Tools software for
    syncing.

No EDGE, no video capture, Motorola's phone book design, limited and
finicky synchronization. Wish for a smaller text option for emails and
web - the screen certainly could handle it.

Keyboard, camera quality (with a clean lens)& battery life in the real
life are better than I expected. The web browser opens HTML pages just
    fine (they advertise only WAP???)
