I've been trying to send a short video clip to my v3 phone but either it
won't download or it downloads and then says invalid file format.

I've tried Adobe Premier, AVItoMPeg and VirtualDub. I've tried mpeg2, divx3,
    divx4 and some others.

    Anyone got this to work?

    Thanks,

    Jay.

I've got a couple of videos that have been bluetoothed to me and they are in
MP4 format according to the phone

    Jay,

I believe it should be an Mpeg4 format video with a .mp4 extension, no
more than 176 pixels wide. Likely 15fps. Given that the phone has under
6 megabytes for multimedia storage, I imagine the proper bitrate would
probably have to be 20...100Kbps. Not sure about audio format (MP3?)

The mobile PhoneTools software includes a Multimedia Studio application
(big name for such a buggy piece of cr@p) that you can use to convert
any video to the phone's format. Could be worth a try, even if to at
least create a sample piece whose format you could examine and create a
proper export template in Premier or whatnot.

Also as for MPEG4 format, try http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml (
    http://www.xvid.org/ )

Let me know if this works.

Re: What video file format works with V3?

I got some MPEG4's created by the mobilePhoneTools software that play
on the RAZR, but with no sound :-(

    Options available seem to be:
A.) mobile PhoneTools' Multimedis Studio > Video Studio application:

A.a) after adding the clips to timeline, use the File > Save To PC
option, select Save as type -> MPEG File, Preset -> User Defined,
146x144, MPEG4. Adjust video (50...250 seems a sensible range) and
audio bit rates. This results in a good looking .mp4 video that plays
on the V3, but I can't get audio to work - it's silent.

A.b) Same, except use the save (directly to) to phone option or save to
pc with the 3GP format. The video template they use creates a smaller
size and worse quality video than what Razr can play, but at least
there's audio. If this template could someho wbe hacked via registry or
file system (GUI does not allow it), this could have been an OK option.

B.a) Export 146x144 XviD or MPEG2 files from your video editor, then
use MP4CREATOR60.EXE from mpeg4ip-tools zip at
    http://www.rarewares.org/mp4.html Instructions at
    http://www.audiocoding.com/modules/w...age=mp4creator I am not
    smart enough for this.

B.b) Same as above; use the http://mp4ui.sourceforge.net/ I am not
    smart enough for this either.

    C) Use a Mobile Media Maker software, Motorola version:
    http://www.makayama.com/mobilemediamakermotorola.html Rough around the
edges but works. Won't import AVI files but goes far to try to decode
DVD's (???). Insists on saving the output file to the desktop. I create
146x144 MPEG2 files with ample bandwidth for it to take. Trial version
creates files up to 2 minutes. Does create very nice looking .3gp video
files that play well, audio and all, on my RAZR V3.

What is with the video on this phone? I can play MP4's but can't record
any video using the phone, even a short one?? I do hope this will be
included in a firmware upgrade in the future.

I don't seem to have this on my version of phone tools.

This last one worked. The video seems quite small at this resolution but at
    least it plays.

    Thanks!

Has anyone a suggestion on how to go directly from MP4 to Mpeg2 for
    DVD?

I know you can go to AVI first but that would seem to be undesirable.
