What is the V3 external display for?

Hi, I have a V3 and I was wondering how you get the external display to
display anything. The backlight seems to work but there's never anything
displayed. Any ideas?

Unless there is a menu option to disable it (I don't have a V3 myself)
it sounds like the display is damaged.

You should always see the time and also see Caller ID with applicable
picture on an incoming call.
