    Hi,

I shall be glad to know how good the V60i is.

I know it is an older model but that is what I am planning to get when I
dump my current service and opt for a minimal plan. That is one of the
phones they offer - and it is refurbished.

    Any current/former user comments welcome.

    Regards and thanks.

    Everybody have a nice day.

The V60i is an excellent phone. It was very popular about 3-4 years
ago. I used two of them and was happy with them. It has only one
drawback, the antenna is poorly constructed. No matter how careful
you are with the phone, sooner or later the antenna will break.

I've used three V60i samples, and never had an antenna break. Most of
the time I leave it in the collapsed position. But all three samples
had a very finicky charger connection. When I connect the phone to a
charger (via the cradle gizmo, or direct connection to the cable from
the AC brick), the contacts often do not seat correctly. I sometimes
need to try several times before I get the confirming beep that the
charger is detected. If the connector is not seated correctly, the
battery may be discharged instead of charged, and when I disconnect it
from the charger it is dead.

When I called Motorola about this, they denied that there was a problem,
but sent a replacement phone which had the same issue. When I spoke to
techies at Verizon (on several occasions), I was told "they all do that."

Other than that, the V60i performs very well for me. Very good
    reception, seldom drops a call.

    Hi,

Thanks very much for the responses. I am looking forward to getting my V60
soon. A friend also told me about the finicky charger connector issue - but
that newer models had this taken care of. it seems.

    Regards and thanks again.

You apparently have ones with an extending antenna. I was referring
to ones with a butt antenna. Lots of posts here about replacing
    broken antennas in the past.

Huh? Mine is a 1-inch grey pencil-thick thing that screws in. Is there
    something better?

My 1-inch grey pencil-thick thing pulls out about 1.5 inches to an extended
position. The assembly screws in, but requires a tool to remove or install.

I guess there are a lot of types of antenna for the v60i. I have two
v60i phones and both of them have a grey antenna about three-quarters
of an inch long (2 cm) that doesn't extend or retract at all. It also
doesn't screw in. A replacement requires opening the case and
    disconnecting the assembly.

Hrm. The upper part unscrews, leaving perhaps 1/4" of gray plastic in
the phone body. I am reluctant to exert more than a moderate pull on
anything, and the booklet mentions nothing about antenna extension.
