    Hi!

I was wondering about the ringer ID feature of my motorola E1000 (I suspect
it's the same for all motorola phones though).

Why is it that the ringer ID is also used for message alarms??? I mean -
that renders the ringer ID feature completely useles! Who in the world want
to hear a complete ring-tone if they recieve a message? And you have to
answer the phone if the person with ringer ID send you a message - the phone
    doesn't stop ringing!!

It drives me crazy, as I really did want a special ringtone for my
    girlfriend... argh...

    Anyone else with this problem?

    Regards
    Tommy

alls you gotta do is make sure the contact is saved onyour phone memory and pick their ringer id, and make sure the sms and mms tones are different from that ringer id so as to not have any confusion, if the contact is in your sim then you cant give em a ringer id or anything else like that

My statements and views are exactly that, my own, they do not reflect the views or statements from T-Mobile or any company i talk about.

    ----T-Mobile - Blackberry - Ringtone - AT&T - Cingular - Nokia EX-Mod ----

    My sites -
MMF Ringtones (phone browser only) - tagtag.com/kinjutsu - no longer updated, Still active!
MP3 Ringtones (with Tooldef6) - geocities.com/dj_mystik2001Down indefinitely I need to get back into my CPF flow again before i relaunch it!

Yeah, I understand how it works... but the thing is, that the ringer ID ALSO
overrides any sms/mms tones I set elsewhere in the phone. So when I recieve
a sms from that person, the ringer ID tone will be used, and continue
rigning until I read the message!

I just think that this is a major bug in the firmware - one that Motorola
really should do something about, as any other phone out there does this
    properly!

I sent an email to Motorola about this, and they basically told me that
we just have to deal with it ... it is not a bug, it is "how the phone
works." So, basically, the only Ringer IDs you can assign are those to
people whom never send you text messages. Sucks!

Or you could enjoy knowing who the text msg is from even before you pick
    up the phone.

    Re: Anyone using ringer ID?

Well, I have the same problem you have described with the Motorola V220.
It defintely overrides MMS and SMS ringer tones.

What a crappy piece of Software design. It seems all the Motorola
phones have this problem. It makes it useless for me. Now I have to
    delete the Ringer IDs again.

I enjoy knowing the difference between an incoming call and a text
    message more.
