I have had a 551 for 5-6 months and all of a sudden it has given me an
"Unable to charge" message when I plug it into the travel charger, which
is the same one that I have used since I purchased it. Sometimes
fiddling with the phone, like either opening and closing the cover will
work; other times I have to turn it on and off; still other times just
removing the jack and reinserting it will work.

Is this a known issue with the phone? Does anyone know why this might
    happen?

    Thanks
    Ken K

Could be a bad battery. Try cleaning the battery contacts and cable
    contacts. Try another battery.

Are you using a Motorola battery or a 3rd party? If 3rd party, try a
    Motorola one.
