Hello everyone,
Is there anywhere on the net I can get free ringtones for the
v551? I'm not talking illegally obtained ringtones... just free
ringtones that were made by someone and given away for
free use. I just recently purchased a v551 and after seeing
just how expensive it is to purchase just one ringtone off
the Cingular website, I'd like to see if there are any legal
alternatives that I could choose.
Heck, never hurts to ask.

Re: Anywhere I can get FREE ringtones?
Now why is it that anytime anyone asks a question in a
newsgroup about how to obtain something, someone has
to go and open there big fat mouth and call someone
a troll. I plainly said I wasn't looking to illegally obtain ring
tones. I simply was looking for free ones that someone
may have made and were offering for free. That's totally
different from someone stealing ringtones off of cingular's
website and giving them away.
As for making them myself, if I knew how to do that, I sure
wouldn't be asking here now, would I? This is my first time
owning a cell phone and I'm not exactly techno savy as
some other may be.
Nor do I have the $2.50 it costs per ringtone for every one
I'd like to download and put on my cell phone. Perhaps you
have all kinds of money to throw away on ringtones but I've
got a wife and three children to take care of so I can't go
and spend $50 on 25 ringtones simply because I'm tired
of what came with my cell phone when I bought it.
That's the reason I was looking for someplace that had
some legally free alternatives that I could download so I
could have a bit of a change to the ones that came with
my cell phone.
Hell, this newsgroup is just like all the others. A person
comes in here with a simple question hoping to find a little
help and an answer to a question or two and the first
thing that happens is some wise ass shoots there mouth.
You're the reason most people stay out of newsgroups.
Well to hell with the likes of you and the others like you!
I'm outta here,
Bubba Gump
P.S. - if you're gonna be an ass... at least learn to *****.

My apologies for that "John Smith". I only mentioned I had a
v551 but that doesn't mean anything to anyone who doesn't
have a v551. The cell phone I have is a Motorola v551 with
the camera and video built into it. I just recently purchased
it and on page 80 and 81 are the only references to anything
about downloading and making ringtones with the phone but
there's nothing there about putting mp3's on it. Do I need to
buy a data cable so that I can hook it up to my computer and
transfer mp3 files to it? That would be really cool...

I am sorry but I am not familiar with your model of phone.
Does it have bluetooth?
Do you have a bluetooth usb dongle?
If it does and you do, get one of your cd tracks, convert to an mp3 then cut
it down to about 15 seconds or so using...........
http://www.mptrim.com/
...........is what I did.
cheers
