v3 sms messages are locked to sim

Flashed my V3 with a firmware from motox. Now I get memory full when I get
to around 15 sms messages. I'm guessing the phone is using the sim to store
the messages! Can't find an option anywhere to change to use phone memory?
ideas anyone?
