    Did even more reading.
    After B#tch'n out loud.
    Tripped over this solution.

Yeah it involves more down loading but it is sorta clear.
    Gonna try it.

    [][] VOLUME ADJUSTMENT [][]

This option is used to either increase or decrease the volume of the
    different speakers on the phone.

With this option you can adjust the following:

    - Earpiece volume
    - Inner keypad volume
    - Speakerphone volume
    - Ringtone/video volume
    - System tone volume

To adjust these settings you must download the gain_table.bin file via
    P2KTools. The file is found
in the /a/ folder of your phone.

Once file is downloaded, open XVI32 and load the gain_table.bin file.
    Below lists the offsets
and original setting for each option:

Offset 0D earpiece volume >>> original setting: 01

Offset 19 inner keypad volume >>> original setting: 01

Offset 31 speakerphone volume >>> original setting: 01

    Offset 49 ringtone/video volume >>> original setting: 01

Offset 4E system tone volume >>> original setting: 08

All setting range from 00 - 08 with 08 being the loudest.

    *** IMPORTANT ***
It is not recommended to use the setting of 08 for it could blow out the
    speaker.
    *****************

Below lists what each offset represents:

    - Earpiece volume affects sounds coming out of the earpiece when on a call
    - Inner keypad volume affects sounds coming out of the earpiece when NOT
    on a call
    (touchtones, button press beeps)
    - Speakerphone volume affects sounds coming out of the external speaker
    when on a call with
    speakerphone activated
    - Ringtone/video volume affects multimedia, mp3, and midi sounds coming
    out of the external speaker
    (includes midi/mp3 ringtones, video playback)
    - System tone volume effects system tones coming out of the external
    speaker such as reminder tones,
    style/volume change tones, Continental/Siren/Attention/Classic
ringtones, low batt tones, service tone,
autoredial ring, roaming ringtone. Also responsible for the sound for
when phone is shut and you hit the
volume buttons on the left. (Warning: if set to '0' alarm function on
phone might be mutied, happened in
    my case).

you can do the same thing with motokit or p2k without having to edit your gain table. Simply click and andjust the volumes as needed.

If you download and use the motokit, do you need any other software at all?

I wouldn't think so unless MPT has some drivers that helps. Try it, you can't hurt anything.

You'll need drivers. I have MPT installed but that wasn't enough. I
installed PST and let all those drivers install and now Motokit and
P2KTools will load IF I start PST, let it connect and then close it
    first.
