    Hi,

Reading some of the messages just now I've discovered that the current
version of phonetools is 3.25b. I've got 3.11h and am, according to BVRP's
infuriating website, eligible for updates. How on earth do I get an update,
though?! I've registered the program, that doesn't seem to have helped. I've
found http://www.bvrp.com/ENG/download/ , and when I choose "mobile
PhoneTools" from the Update/Patch Drivers part I get offered CaptureFax.exe,
which I don't need. Is there any way of downloading the current version of
mobile PhoneTools without paying for it first?

    Thanks

    Eric

Well, first of all the newest version is 3.28(It came out a few days ago)
Normally, to update you would just click on the menu button within the
program, then choose Setup then Liveupdate to get the latest version but
apparently there are some versions circulating that cannot be updated
because there is no Liveupdate option. If you legally obtained the program,
then if you contact BVRP they will send you a link to download the update.
Here's a quote from the bvrp forums on this topic.

"To manually update you to version 3.28 we will need to verify purchase.
Proof of purchase could be a scanned receipt, email receipt, or listing off
the part number on the CD or CD sleeve. Please contact our technical support
queue at 720-330-1458 between the hours of 9:00 am and 9:00 pm Mountain Time
(US), Monday through Friday or by e-mail at [email protected] with that
information and we can get you updated."

Thanks for that. My version does have the Liveupdate option, but if I run it
it tells me my version is the most up-to-date one. Guess I'll e-mail that
    address you mentioned.

    Thanks again

sharing network, when i installed it it ran live update automatically,
and upgraded to 3.25. Just ran LU again to get 3.28.

My problem is that once I bought the upgrade to the Deluxe edition
everything went fine. It had new features, a better interface, and
no more of those annoying "Learn More" windows opening on the side to
ask you to buy the Deluxe edition.

Then I ran the LiveUpdate from that new version. Big mistake. It's
back to the old look it had in the light version bundled with my Razr,
shows the "Learn More" windows again. Some features are unlock though
(SMS no longer are limited to 72 characters when using accents and
they correctly span across multiple messages/pages when longer than
    160).

So I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the 3.11h version and
now stick to it. Don't want the "upgraded" version with the nag
screens and the simple SMS window instead of the more complete one
that lets you pick up several options.

    What's wrong with them?

    Sincerely,
    Steve JORDI

That's odd. I never had the "lite" version and my upgrade didn't
introduce those things. Wonder if a clean install of a full version and
then an upgrade would work for you.

Well the lite version is the one coming with the cell phone itself.
And I did clean up everything, including the registry, and started
a fresh install. It's fine, it's the deluxe version as long as I
don't run liveupdate and switch from 3.11 to 3.25 or 3.28.
Those two last "upgrades" actually act like "downgrades". The
graphical interface reverts back to the one in the lite version.

Maybe it's a "feature", they didn't enjoy the most complete interface
    introduced in 3.11h. Who knows ? :-)

This is really weird, Steve. I've done exactly the same as you, going
from 3.11h 'Lite' that came with my V3 to the 'Deluxe' version I
currently use. However none of my updates have had the effect you
describe, including v3.28 which went on just a few days ago.

I had the same experience as Steve. Started off with the Lite version, then
installed 3.11 over that. All the features were now unlocked and worked. I
then accepted the LiveUpdate, which appeared to roll things back, locking
all the unlocked features again. I then uninstalled everything and
reinstalled 3.11, and have left it at that. Numerous bugs, but at least
    parts of it work now.

Re: Updating phonetools 3.11h to 3.25b

    Alan,
I enclose here 2 screen captures.

SMS311 is the "enhanced" Short Message window when I bought the
Deluxe version upgrade. It comes with many options, such as
    scheduling, more phonebook selections, etc.

SMS328 is the same window after LiveUpdate (3.28). It has nothing.
It's exactly the same one as the Lite version that came with
my Razr V3. The only thing "enhanced" after LiveUpdate is that
it remembers it is upgraded and is no longer limited to 160
    characters. But that's about it.

Now the phonebook windows displays again the "Learn more"
right side toolbar with a popup window that is impossible
to hide, that shows why we should upgrade to the deluxe
    version!
Those nag screens are not in the upgraded "deluexe" 3.11h
    version.
It's really weird. I tried on two different computers and
updating from 3.11 to 3.2x turns the interface back to the
    lite version.

    Sincerely,
    Steve JORDI
