Just curious if other owners are experiencing
    the same - "condition".

Every now and then, while in the midst of a
conversation, I'll hear sporadic buzzing sort
of noises in the earpiece (superimposed over
    the received audio).

The noises sound like GSM data bursts that I
would hear interfering with my PC speakers when
the phone is placed too close to them.

Now, I'm wondering if I have a bad phone (ie.
perhaps a defective component on the transceiver
board ?), or if others hear this same buzzing
    sounds on theirs.

It's on Cingular, and yes I know the backlight
for the LCD contributes some similar noises, but
it also does it when the light is off.

I've heard that once or twice, plus the LCD's buzzing seems to be
getting louded. I've been meaning to head down to a dealer to compare a
new phone vs mine and see if it makes a difference.

Mine is almost a year old and I've never heard the buzzing.

I have heard similar complaints about the V3 doing this before, if it's the
same thing, and not just outside interference-you may have to get it
    exchanged.

I have only heard that buzzing noise in my pc speakers and desk radio
speakers seconds before getting an incoming call. Never heard it in the
    phone though.

    v3 buzz

Mine does this all the time during conversation and through just about any speakers like you said. It even does it in the middle of the night through my alarm clock speakers. I am on my second V3 and both have done it. I returned the first through cingular and they sent a refurbished that did the same. Please respond back to me to let me know if you have figured out what the freakin problem with it is. Thank You.

All my Nokia phones have made noises through radio or home stereo stereo
speakers. And my Samsung x427 that I used to use also did, and even
interfered with my clock radio when it was charging. My V3 is definitely no
worse, and may even be better.

My coworker's Nokia makes his computer monitor goes bananas right before it
starts to ring when receiving a call if the phone is close to the monitor.

I contacted Cingular after reading around more. Aparently there were a bunch of V3's that were released around the same time that have a problem with this type of interference. They are sending me a replacement (this is the 3rd one I will have) and supposedly it will fix the problem. The problem is they don't know if I will get one where the problem exists or one where it doesn't becuase of how they send refurbished phones with the Warrenty Exchange program. The lady I spoke with had me look at the contacts that the phone makes with the battery, and also the color of the sticker (dot) that is under the battery on the phone. I guess I will find out if I have solved the problem in 2-5 days...
