A couple of weeks ago I bought a Motorola V3 in the UK - (black
    version).

After a couple of hours I noticed that the keypad back light did not
always light so it was darn near impossible to use the phone in low
    light conditions.

The screen backlight always lit up.

Then it would seem to work fine again. I understand the keypad lback
light on this phone is only supposed to work in low light conditions
and has a light sensor in the top of the keypad itself.

I found however that sometimes it would work in low light and
    sometimes it just would not.

I returned it to where I got it from and after they tested it it they
confimed the keypad light function was intermittent and have paid me a
    full refund.

The problem is that I really like the phone (Not packed with all the
latest features I know but very stylish IMHO...) and would like to get
another one but before I do I would like to know if this is a common
problem or was I just unlucky?????

If this was just a one off I will get another.

Would appreciate the groups input please.

    Many thanks.

Sounds like you were unlucky. Try another.
