After many fruitless hours trying to get mPT to recognize my V220
phone, and after many dead end searches through various lists, web
sites, and forums, I finally came upon this item buried deep within a
BVRP forum:
1. In Mobile Phone Tools Go to the General Setup (or push F6 on your
keyboard)
2. Go to the Communication Tab
3. Click on Change Modem
4. Click Next
5. Make sure the Motorola USB Modem is Highlighted and click next
6. Check the box for Do not Automatically detect and click next
7. On the left side choose Motorola GSM, and the right side choose the
V220 and click next
8. Click finish
9. Click OK out of the General Setup
This got me running without any further hitches. Later I found this
manual initialization process referenced at:
http://support.bvrp.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=3966
But that reference does not give the step by step procedure I noted
above, and it is quite far down the list of remedies in that document.
This option should be built into the mPT's initialization routine and
should be prominently offered and displayed as a choice during the
attempted (and failing) automatic initialization process.
Maybe this has been previously discussed in this newsgroup, but I
surely was not able to find it.
Anyway FYI.

Re: mobile Phone Tools initialize success (finally)
Great, Thanks...it worked for me too. No problem with set up on my desktop,
but lap top would not initialize....
