Having trouble with a RT I loaded onto my phone with MPT.

    1. I made a 23 sec rt in mp3 format. the mp3 works fine on the computer.

    2. Loaded into my V-180 phone and put it in the audio folder.

    3. It shows up on my phone but when I try to play/test it--the phone says
    it's corrupted.

The mp3 is saved at 128kbps

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thx

    Re: Ring Tone Help

I thought that might be the problem. I'm making the mp3 with Audacity but I
guess I do not kno how to change the bit rate from 128 to something lower.
    It's a wav file with a setting of 128.

    Re: Ring Tone Help

Do you have Mobile Phone Tools? That can convert it. I also like the
converter from www.xilisoft.com that you can try for free. It lets you
    adjust the rate easily.

Re-encode it to a lower bitrate. Here is a simple-to-use utility, that is also great for creating
3gp and mp4 movies from just about any type of clip for putting on your phone. This is far-and-away
the best program of it's type I have used, just drag & drop:

    http://fever.link.free.fr/SUPERsetup.exe

Thx for the utility will give it a try. Yes, I have MPTools & Audacity and
have made RTs with both and get the same corrupted response when loaded to
    the phone.

Question: Would the version of MPtools make a difference?? --will check my
    version.

    Re: Ring Tone Help

    Here's my most recent try:

    1. Used MPTools (Version 3.11, 08-02-04) , the wav file I want,
& saved it as an mp3 file. Final mp3 File specs after saving:

    Frequency: 44100
    16 bit mono
    64 kbsp bitrate
    25.6 sec long

loaded into the phone--it says it's corrupted and will not play.

    Any help?

    Thx

    Re: Ring Tone Help

Success at last using SUPER utility. Made the mp3 loaded it with MPTools and
    it worked fine.

    Question:
Started with a wav file and file name turned out like this:

    joe.wav.mp3

Why does it have a .wav.mp3 name instead of just .mp3?

    Thx for all your help!

It's just the way the program names it, I guess to make it easier to see what file it was converted
from. You can re-name it to anything you like so long as it ends in .mp3

    Re: Ring Tone Help

Do your file names come out with that name format? I did rename it and it
    worked.
    Thx for the software tip!
