I've installed Mobile Phone Tools and connected my phone to the USB socket
but all I get is "Initialising Modem" and "Please Wait". I have to confess
this is all new to me so if some kind soul could run me through what I'm
supposed to do I would really appreciate it.

    Cheers.

Which version of Phone tools are you using. The latest build is something
    like 3.28x

Though I started with version 3.11 with my Razr. I had to fight a bit with
my PC to get it to play right with my phone when I plugged it in. If you
have already reboot your PC with the phone plugged in. You should see it go
to a charging stage when it's plugged in and windows is up, but Phone Tools
didn't want to play until I booted with the phone plugged in.

I believe the Key was for windows to load it's drivers for the phone the
first time. Since doing that series of steps, Phone tools works just fine on
the 3 PCs I run it on.

Converting songs to ringtones V815 or V710

    Can anyone offer any assistance.
My brother's got a Razor and he's able to assign different songs as
    ringtones when people call.
I've got a V815 and when I ask for a ringtone, all I get is a set of
short nothings that the phone came with.
How can I attach files (via the Trans Flash) to be used as ringtones ?
    Thanks
    Doug

If you want to assign ringtones to some specific person , store that
person's information in phone instead of SIM. Go to phone book, press
hte central (option) button of your mobile, go to 'edit' and then
    assign ringtone.
I hope this will work ...if you feel any problem send me an email

    Good Luck !

    Hi,
First install the software .. .when it asks for the driver ,, insert
your CD_ROM and let your PC configure your mobile. When it stucks at
initialization ...pull out the cable from your V3 and insert again. It
    will work.
    Good Luck

The songs can be put on the transflash card, but in order to use them
as ring tones, they must be transfered from the card to the phone's
    internal memory

go to media gallery, and then into your sounds. Make sure that you're
looking at the sounds on the flash card. press the "0" (zero) button
while highlighting a song to select it. Then, after selecting as many
songs as you want to transfer to the phone, hit menu, then select "move
marked files". I glad I could help, but next time, just rtfm

If you have the Verizon Wireless software in the 710/815, the "Move"
menu item of audio files from Transflash to phone memory has been
removed. To move audio files from TF to phone memory, you either:

    1) Do the seem edit to re-enable that menu item.

    2) Compose a PIX message to an invalid number (say, 555-555-5555),
attach the audio file from the TF card, and send it. The send fails, but
now the message is in the Outbox, from which you can save it as a
ringtone or in the phone memory.
