I have a Motorola H500 Bluetooth headset which I use with my V3 Razr. I am
not happy with this headset as the earphone speaker is very quiet even at
full volume, and my callers find me quiet unless I am speaking very loud.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a better bluetooth headset? Is there
any risk of using a non-motorola headset with the V3?

None whatsoever, bluetooth is bluetooth. Any headset will do.

Any will work but there are certainly various levels of quality and
comfort. My partner dumped the Moto headset in favor of a Plantronics
and loves it.

I have a Plantronics 320 that I got for $25 during a Thanksgiving sale
(normally $40). I can initiate/answer/end calls by pressing one button.
People tell me that it sounds very good and the audio is more than loud
enough for my hard of hearing ear. The only advantage of the Moto 850
is that it powers off instantly when you fold the mic boom over. The
Plantronics 320 requires you to hold the button down for about 5-6
seconds to power it off. I have an e815, but it should work exactly the
same with the razr.

I also suggest Plantronics. Moto's headsets were designed VERY poorly
(mic lays on your face and hides your voice)! I own the Voyager 510
and have never looked back. I suggest you do the same. One of these
days, hopefully Moto will get the hint and change their designs in BT
headsets. Until then...
