Turn off whatever you're not using (e.g., Bluetooth).

Re: V551 Battery Life
If you aren't talking and its dying after 24hrs, something is wrong with the
phone or the battery.
return it if its new.
If you are talking 3 hrs plus per day, or playing games 3 hrs plus per day,
then it could die in 24hours.

I've noticed over Thanksgiving that my phone wasn't lasting even 24
hours, even with little usage (except that Bluetooth was enabled). It
went dead 3 straight nights.
At home, it will normally last 1 1/2 days to 2 days without a charge,
even with Bluetooth, unless I use it for a significant time for voice
or data.
Since it is a year old now, maybe the battery is getting old.

Have you upgraded the firmware? That is a known issue.
Mine was running out after about 18 hours, but after the upgrade it
lasts for days - even with the bluetooth enabled.

Re: V551 Battery Life
my response was to first poster,Tonemeister.
Kevin K, you indicate that your battery is over a year old. Probably does
need replacement. Li-ion batteries last about a year, sometimes longer,
sometimes less. If it's less than a year old, you can get a new one under
warranty.

No.
Unfortunately, I do not have a cable to do so.

I took mine in since I am on the Rogers network. They also resoldered
something. The difference is amazing. Worth doing it.

Depending on how much your talking on the phone it could be normal
Post your stand by time, and talk time and whether or not your
surfing the net on the phone and a better judgement can be made

You have a problem.
My v551 typically gets recharged twice a week. Some usage during those
days, some bluetooth on those days.
If I forget and leave the bluetooth activated, I need to recharge that day
or the next. If I talk for a few hours, I recharge that night, but only to
make sure I have enough battery for the next day.
On my Cingular V551, Settings-Phone Status-Other Information you can
see the firmware version. Mine is R472_G_08.18.16R_0A.

Re: V551 Battery Life
drain battery. charge for 3 hours making sure no calls/text messages/etc.
Try it on those 3 hours worth, then do a full charge as per owners manual.
Hope this helps.
