RAZR V3c mp3 as ringtones?

I've uploaded mp3 files to my phone using the Motorola phone tools and
they show up in my "sounds" menu option where I can play them. How do
I use one as a ring tone? I noticed that all the other files already
in that folder have an option that says "Apply as ring tone" but when I
click on the options for my uploaded mp3 it doens't have that choice.

Also when I go to Contacts and try to specify a ringer id, it doesn't
list my uploaded mp3s as a choice. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Verizon is notorious for disabling features that enable you to avoid
buying something from them. Maybe a SEEM edit would fix this. Check
